Specialist Yoga Therapy for Care Home residents and their Families
“Supporting comfort, connection and quality of life at every stage of later life”
Every stage of later life brings its own challenges and opportunities. Whether someone is adjusting to life in a care home, living with dementia or Parkinson’s, managing long-term illness, or becoming increasingly frail, everyone deserves opportunities to experience comfort, dignity, connection and moments of joy.
Specialist Yoga Therapy offers a gentle, personalised approach that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing. Sessions are carefully tailored and adapted to each resident’s abilities and needs, helping them feel calmer, more comfortable and more connected with themselves and the people they love. Family members are also warmly invited to take part, creating opportunities to share meaningful experiences together, strengthen relationships and make lasting memories.

What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is an evidence-informed therapeutic approach that combines gentle adapted movement, breathing techniques, sound, relation practices and mindfulness that enhances overall wellbeing.
Yoga therapy is about supporting quality of life, not achieving posture, its about enhancing comfort, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping people experience the best quality of life, whatever their circumstances.

Supporting Families through connection
One of the greatest challenges families often face is knowing how to connect whe words become difficult or health changes. Yoga therapy offers gentle ways of being together that don’t rely on conversation. Family members or close friends are encouraged to join sessions where appropriate, sharing simple experiences such as: breathing together; gentle movement; hand massage and compassionate touch; humming or singing familiar songs; guided relation; or mindful presence. These shared experiences can reduce anxiety for both residents and family members, encourage co-regulation, strengthen emotional bonds and create meaningful moments together.
